I'm still trying to process that whole Game 7 of the World Series.  But the important thing...

CUBS WIN!!!!!

108 year drought is OVER!  Cubs are the World Series Champions!!!!!!!

Sleep is not coming for me tonight.  Too excited!

Since [livejournal.com profile] roxymissrose shared a few pics of her snow, I figured I'd share mine.  Plus, hey! a Rosy post!

I didn't measure it, but I'm guessing we had close to a foot. :P  I'm not a fan of snow at all.  More than ready for spring now.

Thankfully, I have absolutely no place to go and no reason to leave the warmth of my house after shoveling the cars out.

Happy 2016!

So, I'm an hour and a half late.  Spent the night with the family at my brothers, most of it playing World of Warcraft Trivial Pursuit with [livejournal.com profile] orionrezil, my brother and 2 more nephews.  I came in second to Ori.  No surprise that he won.  Twas fun though.  :D

I wish everyone a happy 2016 and hope it was better than 2015.  I think we say that every year, but it seems like the new year is at least as blah as the previous.  Maybe this will be the year it changes for the better, hopefully for at least one of us.

Hugs and love to you all.

It's things like that that I love Jimmy Fallon so much for!

Ok... now that I've calmed down from the happiness and excitment, I can post something.

MY CUBBIES ARE GOING TO THE NLCS!!!!!!

For the first time in 12 years, the Cubs are going to the conference finals!  This is what makes it worth being a Cubs fan. :D

I'm like totally freaking out.  My 'local' comic con - Steel City Con in Pittsburgh just announced that Adrian Paul will be at the next on in December!!!!!!!  I'm like trying to keep calm at work, but totally failing!  That's just one degree from Peter Wingfield!  lol

Not to mention Sean Astin, Cliff & Norm from Cheers, Walter Koening, William Katt (Greatest American Hero!!) and Danny Glover will be there too.  Is it December yet?  LOL

*goes to try to calm down*

So [livejournal.com profile] orionrezil has been having a LOT of fun doing his own type of manips.  Ever since he was a wee boy, he was obsessed with and old adventure game called Quest for Glory (thanks to my brother).  Lately, he's taken to doing manips from screencaps inserting various other pop culture bits and pieces into game images.

His latest is with Supernatural and I promised if he posted it to LJ, I'd share with you guys so you can see what Dean, Sam, and even Baby look like in all their 8-bit glory.  I tease him about these (that's what an aunt's supposed to do, right?), but I do think they turn out pretty awesome.  :D

So....here's the link to his post if you'd like to wonder over and see it. http://orionrezil.livejournal.com/7872.html

We had a cookout out my brother's today and my contribution was a Pina Colada cake.  Been a LOOOOONNNGGG time since I made a cake from scratch, and made icing from scratch too.  Was a lot of fun, but took most of the day to bake and decorate.  This was my first attempt at making roses, which turned out ok, but not great.  Had fun trying different decorating tips to see what I could do.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mommy's out there.

We had a nice cookout at my brother's.  I got to practice my cake decorating skills. *G*  Mom loved how the cakes turned out. :D

May the 4th be with you all!  :)

Shopping yesterday gave me all kinds of signs that I had to do something to celebrate.

I'm not one to dress up pets, but I couldn't pass up Yoda ears for Snickers.  It was worth the couple dollars for this adorable pic.

And we found a Darth Vader cake pan on clearance.

So I had a bit of fun today. :-D

ETA: Pics.  GRRR!  Trying to post from phone and tablet apps was NOT working! :P

Every year when [livejournal.com profile] orionrezil gets his tax refund back, we have a day out together (I do his taxes for him lol). Today was our day, did movies & dinner.

We went to see Seventh Son. It was such a fun fantasy movie, with some pretty cool effects, especially the dragons. And of course, Ben Barnes, who I swear has not aged (possibly de-aged) since The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. Still so very pretty!

Then, for dinner... something new for me: sushi! I love seafood, but sushi never appealed to me. Ori pretty much hates fish, but likes sushi. O.O Yeah... not asking. So, we decided to do sushi for dinner. OMGNOMMMMMS!!!!! Soooo good! Can not wait to go again. Though, with how expensive it it, it'll be a while. :( But it was definitely a fun treat and a very fun day. :D

Farewell 2014, you won't be missed much.

Hello 2015. Please be kind.

Hope the new year brings better things for all my friends. Love to you all.

I've never really had an interest in Groupon before, but was looking through some of the offers today and found one for allromanceebooks.com. I know quite a few of you guys love ebooks as much as I do.

The offer is for 5.00 for 10.00 or 10.00 for 20.00.

Here's the link of anyone's interested. http://groupon.com/bwf/78b7b968-e6f8-44b2-8327-39c005d0a1af?utm_campaign=OfferReferral&utm_source=bwf_link&utm_medium=bwf

If at least 2 people buy in the next 3 days, we all get $2.00 refunded too. I never complain about saving money and getting books cheap. :)

I finally got to go to a comic convention! Went with my brother and [livejournal.com profile] orionrezil to Steel City Con in Pittsburgh.

OOOOOHHHHHHH MY GOD!!!! Sooooooo much fun! So tiring too, but worth it.

Got to see panels with:

Michael Dorn (Worf on ST:TNG & DS9) & Terry Farrell (Jadzia Dax on DS9). They had a bunch of cute stories, including that they influenced their relationship on the show. They knew each other before and wanted to work with each other more on DS9 so they decided they were going to flirt. It worked and gave us one of my favorite ST pairs. :)

Peter Mayhew!!! I got to see Chewie!!! Probably as close to Harrison Ford as I'll ever get. LOL His panel was more conservative, but still awesome. He told quite a few stories from filming the original movies.

Finally... Henry Winkler! The FONZ!!!! He was so funny and so sweet. Would not let anyone ask a question without telling him their name first. I expected his panel to be fun, but not as funny as it was.

I can't wait until April and we can do it all again. Gates McFadden (Bev Crusher from ST:TNG) & Karen Allen (Marion from Indian Jones) will be there. :D

Last night, Moose passed away. He was almost 15 years old and spent the last 8 years 8 months giving so much love and affection to our family, and some torment too. He really took over the house from the moment we brought him home. He claimed anywhere he wanted to lay, which was everywhere. Our house is going to be much quieter and empty now.

I love you Moose, and will miss you greatly. :(

OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!

I may have squealed like a 5 year old girl high on sugar, but GRIMLOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am soooooooooo excited!!!!!!!! I can NOT wait till June! Seriously, I have waited almost 30 years for this! I love the Transformers in general, but I LOOOOOOOVVVVVEEEEE Grimlock!!!! He's always been my fave and seeing him on the big screen! My nephew and brother better have their ear plugs. *G*

I feel like such a bad Mommy. Yesterday was Moose's 8 year  anniversary and I almost completely forgot about it until after midnight.  I guess one day late is better than forgetting completely. So here a few pictures of the past year.

rosy5000: (supermen)

2013 is past, 2014 is here.  Wishing everyone a happy and healthy new year.

rosy5000: (supermen)
I'll begin by saying that I am just a Superman fan in general. Granted, Christopher Reeve will ALWAYS be my Superman, but as long as the general idea of Superman and his ideals stay the same, I'm open to some changes.

That said, I went into the movie with no preconceived ideas of the movie at all. I stayed away from pretty much anything but the commercials and previews. I just wanted a really good Superman movie with a really good Superman and Lois. That's exactly what I got.

Henry Cavill was really fantastic as Clark/Superman. He was great at letting Superman's humanness show through. Though, it was rather freaky how much he looked like Tom Welling! I'm assuming it's more because he's younger that he got the role over some of the other actors who were in the running, because if they wanted a Tom look-a-like, they could have just gotten Tom. lol Seriously, there was a scene when Clark was maybe 15-16 and it could have been a scene from the early seasons of Smallville! Henry is also very very very pretty, with some VERY white teeth! *g*

Amy Adams did a good job as Lois. She had a tough, no-nonsense way about her, but a feminine side without being too girly. Wish she had bit more dialog though.

I think what surprised me most was Russel Crowe as Jor-El. I'm not a big fan of Crowe's but I don't dislike him either. His portrayal of Jor-El was very impressive, it came across strong, caring, and intelligent.

The movie was almost 2 1/2 hours, and I wouldn't have minded if it was longer. There were some scenes that kinda seemed rushed, but I don't think there was really a lot of just 'filler' scenes either. Some of the fight scenes may have been a bit longer than necessary, but that seems to be the thing in action movies any more. I'd definitely give it a solid A, but I may be a bit biased just because it's a Superman movie.

The cool thing was, there were 2 short special behind the scenes/making the movie vids shown before the movie. One with the cast talking about the movie and one with Zac Snyder talking about making it.

On a side note, if anyone's interested - both Walmart and Amazon have the last few seasons of Smallville for 15-17.00 each. I got season 7 (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] orionrezil) last night. Just need 8-10 yet. :)

Thus ends my poor attempt at a review. :)
rosy5000: (supermen)

So, since Man of Steel comes out this week I wanted to paint my nails for seeing the movie.  I was even able to get [livejournal.com profile] orionrezil to help.  :)

He painted the shield on one thumb & Zod's emblem on the other.  I'm really happy how they turned out. *G*

The rest of my nails ended up looking more like circus flags, but I still like them.
